Progress Report

The boys are graduating today to the Level 2 NICU from the Level 3 NICu (Level 3 being the highest). They are doing well. Both are off oxygen now and I was able to hold Carter for the first time yesterday. It was great! He is only a pound bigger than his brother but it was such a difference holding them both. He is more solid than little Cameron. We will be going to see them tonight to do Kangaroo Care with them. That is when they put the baby skin to skin with mama and daddy. I can't wait!! We will try to take some pics if we can. Keep praying for their trip home soon!!!!!!

They are here!!

Well they decided to pop into our world a little earlier than expected! Cameron and Carter were born on Thursday April 24, 2008 at 11:00am. They are spending some time in the NICU but should be coming home in a few weeks. Both are doing really well for their size and age. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers so they can come home soon!!!

First time I passed an NST!!!

Yay for my babies! This was the first time that we had a stress test and did not have to be admitted!! I was so relieved when the nurse came in and said I could go home! But I was ready to go this time, bag packed and all so that's probably why they did so good! Little stinkers! But I love them and am so grateful that I will be sleeping in MY bed tonight and not some stinky hospital bed. YUCK!!

I go in tomorrow for our 32 week ultrasound to check the boy's growth and weight! For as big as I'm getting they better be too!

I'm measuring how big?????

So I saw my OB today for a regular check up and got some interesting news. My belly is measuring 40 WEEKS!!!!!!!! That is full term for a single pregnancy. My doctor didn't even want to tell me. But I made her!!! I laughed it off and I think she thought I was upset about it.

We also had another hospital stay last week to monitor the boy's heart rates. One of them did not pass his stress test so we had to stay for 2 nights. I should get frequent stay points for these overnight visits. I have another stress test tomorrow and am fully expecting to be admitted again. My doctor said to mentally prepare for these little stinkers to come any day now. But we really need to get to 34 weeks. That's the golden number. That's when it will be most likely for them to come home with us and not spend any time in the NICU. But if they feel like coming before then, we are ready. I am just ready to not be pregnant anymore. Its getting very difficult and draining. UGGHH!!!!!

30 Week Ultrasound... big babies!!!

I had my 30 week ultrasound last Thursday and am happy to report that the boys are now weighing in at 3.4lbs and 3.8lbs. So at 30 weeks I have 7lbs of baby in my belly. Now I just want you to know that most women deliver ONE full term baby at 7lbs. So I have at least another month to go (we hope!!) and those boys are literally taking my body over. You can see the 30 week picture... I almost peed my pants when I saw it (and I see my belly everyday).
The nurse at the docs office told me that I am measuring 34 weeks if I had a single pregnancy. So my body "thinks" that I am 34 weeks pregnant. I WISH I was 34 weeks so I could get this over with!!!!

Ahhh the joys of multiples!!!!!!

Baby Shower!

I managed to make it to my baby shower on schedule despite the harrowing days before the shower! I was so excited to see everyone that could make it and be a part of my day! It was hosted by Stephanie, Lena, Tricia, Kelly, Michelle and my mom. Everyone had a great time and the boys got lots of goodies.

There are pics posted below. Just click on the picture for the link to the album!

Spent the last 2 days in the hospital!

For those who don't know, we spent the last 2 days in the hospital.. NOT FUN!!!!

I went in on Thursday to have a scheduled NST (stress test on the babies) and they discovered that I was having contractions. Now it is normal to have contractions called Braxton Hicks and with twins they are more prevalent but mine were coming too close together. They gave me IV fluids for dehydration, did a culture to test if you will go into labor in the next 2 weeks (sorry if that's TMI) and checked to make sure my cervix was closed. All tests came back negative and cervix was closed. So I thought, I'm going home. Well no not so fast.
Doc decided at like 9pm that I was staying overnight since some of the contractions were like 6 minutes apart. EXCUSE ME???

So waking up Friday morning in the hospital was yucky, got no sleep but thought no big deal, I'm going home. Well.... no contractions came back and they were very erratic. Sometimes 5 minutes, sometimes 20 minutes and so on and so on. So they were saying that I was gonna have to stay again!!! I DON'T THINK SO!!! The geniuses finally decided to do an ultrasound to check the length of my cervix and it was completely normal.. NO why it took 2 days to check that is beyond me and very frustrating at the same time! So final diagnosis was Braxton Hicks since my cervix was not changing and I was not having any other pre-term labor symptoms. DUH!!!!!!!! I could have told you that 2 days ago.... GRRRRRRR!!!

I get to have my Baby Shower today as planned! YAY! Thought we were gonna have to cancel that. But I get to go back to Hospital tonight to have my second round of steroid shots to help the boys lung's just in case this happens again and I end up having deliver them pre-term. Which no-one wants!!!! Especially me :)

Thanks for all the prayers and well wishes from family and friends!!
